Description
This is an artistic construction using found materials made by a good friend. I painted her creation in watercolor as a gift to her. She was moved to assemble this during an artists' retreat in France not long after the passing of her husband. My friend explained to me that the two large rocks in the foreground represent her husband and herself. They are connected by the living, growing grass between them. The three pairs smaller rocks in front of them reperesent their three children and their spouses. The lines of two or three smaller rocks extending from them are for the children of each couple. The circle of rocks surrounding them represents the love of family which nurtures and keeps them all connected. God is represented by the large, circular iron lid up against the stone wall. The two concentric circles of iron represent Christ and the Holy Spirit which begin and end with God and are the focal point of the entire family. My friend does not consider herself an artist. I beg to differ! What do you think?
