Artist's Description

Early autumn along the Fire Tower road in Cook Forest State Park, Cooksburg, PA. Change is inevitable...sometimes exciting and welcome; sometimes disappointing, fearful, or tragic...but always inevitable. Whatever changes we experience, we can choose to look for the "promise" of new opportunities to explore which otherwise may not have been available. The growth that change often requires is sometimes painful, but always worth the journey of moving to a more positive place.

"None of us knows what the next change is going to be...what unexpected opportunity is just around the corner, waiting to change the tenor of our lives." Kathleen Norris

About Barbara Jewell

Barbara Jewell

I have been seriously involved in watercolor painting for the last 20 years following retirement from my public school teaching career. Having the time to paint, along with the freedom from the need to make a living at the same time, has opened many wonderful new opportunities, friendships and experiences for me. I am a frequent exhibitor in art shows at the local, regional, state and national levels, having been honored to receive numerous awards for my work. My painting style is realistic. I am drawn to detail and favor the use of vivid color. I enjoy painting a variety of subject matter, but the glorious world of nature is what seems to suit me best. Many of my paintings reflect time spent outdoors, especially in the mountains...
