About Barbara Jewell
I have been seriously involved in watercolor painting for the last 20 years following retirement from my public school teaching career. Having the time to paint, along with the freedom from the need to make a living at the same time, has opened many wonderful new opportunities, friendships and experiences for me. I am a frequent exhibitor in art shows at the local, regional, state and national levels, having been honored to receive numerous awards for my work. My painting style is realistic. I am drawn to detail and favor the use of vivid color. I enjoy painting a variety of subject matter, but the glorious world of nature is what seems to suit me best. Many of my paintings reflect time spent outdoors, especially in the mountains...

Barbara, I know it's been a couple of weeks, but thank you so much for visiting my site and commenting on my dogwood painting. I was immediately drawn to this one 1) because I used to have a son this age haha and 2) it is endearingly beautiful and sweet. Painting like this with watercolors (and you know that is my forte) is extremely difficult and I do not paint people unless they are in silhouette. You have a magical tough. v/f
