Wonderful Birch Trees! v/f
Barbara Jewell replied:
Thanks so much for the support, Marcia! Actually, these are aspens, which I understand are in some way related to birch. The first time I saw them out west, I too thought they were birch, until I looked more closely and asked someone. One difference is that while birch bark is very white and somewhat rough, aspens tend to have a smoother bark, and a more golden or slightly greenish cast...depending on the light. Anyway, they are beautiful trees, and I thank you again for your great comment!

Aspens are an amazing tree. They are a community actually. You painted them perfectly, I almost thought they were a photograph.
Barbara Jewell replied:
I totally agree. I fell "in love" from my first trip out west when I discovered they weren't birch trees, which easterners often mistake them for. They are among my favorite subjects for painting, and I so appreciate your generous comment, Sydne!

Really nice....I love the golden color of the aspens. Subtle complimentary colors. Vote./
Barbara Jewell replied:
Thank you, Anne! This "golden" color of the aspens is the way they look in the afternoon sun, through my ski goggles! :-) Thanks, too, for the vote.

Barbara Jewell replied:
Thanks, Daniel for the comment. I do remember seeing aspens in your gallery...also beautifully done!
