This beautiful dog was the precious pet of a woman who recently lost her. I was commissioned by a friend of hers to do this painting, which will be given as a gift to Pearl's owner. After all the time spent on the painting, I've started to feel like I know Pearl! Unfortunately, that will never happen, but painting her has been both a challenge and a delight! Hopefully, this image will bring back many happy memories to its recipient.
I have been seriously involved in watercolor painting for the last 20 years following retirement from my public school teaching career. Having the time to paint, along with the freedom from the need to make a living at the same time, has opened many wonderful new opportunities, friendships and experiences for me. I am a frequent exhibitor in art shows at the local, regional, state and national levels, having been honored to receive numerous awards for my work. My painting style is realistic. I am drawn to detail and favor the use of vivid color. I enjoy painting a variety of subject matter, but the glorious world of nature is what seems to suit me best. Many of my paintings reflect time spent outdoors, especially in the mountains...
