Artist's Description

I made this poster to carry in a recent Black Lives Matter demonstration in my mostly white, suburban neighborhood. The organizer was initially concerned that very few people would turn out, but went ahead with her plans. She was surprised and totally overwhelmed when between 2 and 3 hundred residents participated with enthusiasm, support, and respect. As an added bonus, the pastor from a nearby Presbyterian church (my church!) unexpectedly came to speak, then joined the march to the cheers and applause of the crowd! This was a popular and much-photographed sign! It was not constructed as a polished work of art, but as an eye-catching image to convey a strong message. It might be applicable for use on a T-shirt, mug, tote bag or other such items. Any profits from sales of this item will be donated to an appropriate and related non-profit organization!

About Barbara Jewell

Barbara Jewell

I have been seriously involved in watercolor painting for the last 20 years following retirement from my public school teaching career. Having the time to paint, along with the freedom from the need to make a living at the same time, has opened many wonderful new opportunities, friendships and experiences for me. I am a frequent exhibitor in art shows at the local, regional, state and national levels, having been honored to receive numerous awards for my work. My painting style is realistic. I am drawn to detail and favor the use of vivid color. I enjoy painting a variety of subject matter, but the glorious world of nature is what seems to suit me best. Many of my paintings reflect time spent outdoors, especially in the mountains...
